The venue for the tearfund lunch had to be changed at very short notice. It will be held at the home of Pat & Brian Winsley, Paddocks End, West Street.

As a rule, the family (united) service in Childrey, when held at the Methodist chapel, is always 11am. It is 10am when at St Mary's. This month the 5th (like last month the 1st) the service time in the Childrey Ridgeway box says 10 am, whiolst the Methodist list is 11am.

Stablebarn Livery Yard Print E-mail
Stablebarn is a livery yard at Godfrey’s Farm within the village itself, with excellent hacking out to the Ridgeway and beyond. There are 12 boxes in the large barn, and 6 new boxes in a smaller barn. Facilities include a ménage, a jumping paddock with grass dressage arena, and 25 acres of year-round turnout in 16 paddocks. Fencing is mainly double-strand 40 mm electric tapes on wooden posts.

Most clients chose DIY livery, but the Yard also offers turn-out, mucking out, rugging up, farrier attendance, etc on either a regular or an adhoc basis for the busier horse owner. Grass liveries and broodmares are welcome, with separate post-and-rail paddocks for mares and foals. Starvation facilities are offered, if required, for ponies and laminitics.

Riding lessons on the client’s own horse, and courses in horse and stable management, are offered by qualified staff nearby. Alternatively, clients are welcome to invite their own instructors to teach them on the Yard.

The owner- manager Gina Hocking lives on site. She breeds the rare Cleveland Bay horses and occasionally has purebred stock for sale. Please contact her on 01235 751224 or at to come and view the facilities.
