Life in our attractive village of Childrey has changed greatly since the 19th century. To write her book June Maxwell Drummond talked to long-time residents who remember when it was a self-contained farming community supported by local tradesmen and craftsmen. She has also researched the earlier history of the village with particular emphasis on the manors, farming, local trades, and schooling. Illustrated with old photographs of Childrey from Dennis Bradbrook's unique collection, this book is a fascinating record of the evolution of a village in the Vale of White Horse.
